WHO IS GREAT GATSBY

I spent another enjoyable night with a church I've been attending since I've been to New York called The Rock Church. It's crazy cause I haven't been to church this much in my life, I did as a kid but not as much in my adult life. I attended their annual rooftop party held at The Sliver Tower which is located a few blocks from Time Square and The Hudson river an amazing place to live! Inside gym and swimming pool, love a few of their floor plans and of course a beautiful rooftop view where me, John Woody, and Rashad Benton of Male Critique ( a men's fashion blog coming this Fall/Winter be on the look out.) entered the themed " Great Gatsby " Rooftop party. ( Honestly all jokes aside I've been thinking of what I can wear to this party for weeks, I only came here with 3 big suitcases of summer clothes and a few other things but some how some way I came up with something. )  The party was amazing you guys should already know from my Inner Club kid (http://askiaabdull.blogspot.com/2013/06/my-inner-club-kid.html  ) post I love themed parties, but I didn't really expect others to actually dress up but they did. Guy's were dress head to toe in Trilby hats, straw boater hats and satin suits, button ups with suspenders and pants rolled to the knees with high socks. The women came full force they really did their research flipper dresses, feathers, pearls, sequins, grown's , fur omg!! head pieces. A night full of fun , food and friends.

Newhouse was definitely creating for the woman vacationing in Paris with an artsy twist. I pulled out this nice purple satin suit which fit perfect on the model amazing and also came across tones of nice blouses and swiss- dot tops and nice floral dresses and my favorite was this nice sheer like silk floral jump suit with scarf detail. The designer also introduced ribbon lace dress (what wwd is calling the new cocktail dress) thought it was interesting, also a raffia tweed sleeveless evening gown, and also some textured fabrics as well( I thought the police shades was a nice touch as well ). This resort collection was actually shot on a rooftop on one of the hottest days known to man(lol!) in Brooklyn over the water.

BULLSEYE!!

Today I took full advantage of this weather today in New York I wish everyday was like this. Did a few returns today and now I'm just chilling returning emails and watching Great Gatsby for the first time getting some inspiration for a outfit for this rooftop Great Gatsby themed party. THE FOSSIL & MICHELE HOLIDAY PREVIEW

Yesterday I attended The Fossil & Michele Holiday Preview with a good friend of mine John Woody at The Bowery Hotel very nice hotel where celebrities like Rihanna come stay in New York. At the preview I saw tones of amazing women's accessories like earrings, watches, necklace and rings, also tones of totes and massager bags. They had a big collection of mens watches, book-bags, briefcases and also massagers bags which I am a big fan of and wallets and phones cases. It was clear the theme of the night was 20s Great Gatsby inspired the waiters and a few of the host were dressed in 20s inspired looks also Brian Newman and his Jazz Band provided us with the music for the night dressed in the 20s theme as well. Loved every moment of this preview for Michele Holiday men/women's collection.

BALLED UP THOUGHTS!!!

Lately everyone has been showing me so much love and support for living out my dream of being a stylist. It's somewhat like they actually believe me now that I really want to be a stylist since I've been in New York City doing new styling work like I've never done work before back in Atlanta (lol). I guess you can say it's "official" once your in New York City doing anything for the most part, which to me is insane but I guess if the shoe fits I'll wear it!I am forever thankful for everything anyone has ever done for me, and all the doors that have been opened for me.

MY DAY AND NIGHT OF FASHION

I don't think I ever really ask you guys how your doing? I hope everyone is well and blessed! My day started off very exciting, I was attending a fashion show I honestly haven't been to one in NYC yet.  The exciting part was it was in the neighborhood, never been to an event were I'm staying at let alone a fashion show. It's funny how I found this nice little park the other day next to the Hudson river called Riverbank State Park and a few day's later I'm going to a fashion show there ( Fashion on the Hudson ). They moved the fashion show to the inside though just incase of rain in a place called the Culture Center which is located inside the park. As I walk into the show all I see flashes everywhere  ( mind you I walk in just texting up a storm ) but I didn't notice until someone took a picture and I looked around that everyone around the room was taking pictures of me ( My whole life just flashed before my eye's my dreams are coming true I haven't made it just yet but I'm surely on my way ) but the show was pretty ok they showcased 24 designers that day but I left early because someone forgot the keys in the door .. (lol) Later on that night I took the train to Meat Packing District (my second home in NYC i'm always there pulling from showrooms ) to meet up with one of my loves Christian Riley for her birthday dinner at SEA Thai food restaurant very good food and cheap. I actually ended my night earlier cause I had a early call time for a shoot. (coming soon)

JUUN. J SS14

I just had to talk about and let you guys see JUUN. J SS14 menswear collection. I have been running across his collection for the past week and I honestly only seen the white varsity jerseys but until today on tumblr I seen a few of the leather looks so had to take a look at the collection and fell in love. The Korean designer took the whole the high end street phenomenon to the next level with this bold androgynous collection taking us out of the norm for menswear. " The deconstructionist of menswear!" As he calls himself  gave us a variety of tops in colors like white, cream, marble, blue and cobalt blue and also a few leather tops that emphasized the controlled art of draping ( The detailing in this collection is amazing), paired with razor- sharp line tailored shorts and also pants. Juun even designed a tone of long trench coats and blazer as well getting us ready for the fall. A lot of these piece's can be broken up and worn separately.

RETURNS & ST. MARKS

Sorry you guys kind of took a day off from blogging. I got news of styling my first test shoot in NYC.. EXCITED!!!!! YAY!! (Lol). I was looking up designers and also doing returns but I did stop to take a few pictures of my outfit so you guys can kind of get a feel of my day. I have a lot of new stuff coming soon for you all as well. :)

HIGH-END HARLEM

My outfit the other day on my adventure around Harlem. I decided to take a little trip around where I stay to see what Harlem had to offer and so I can know where everything is around here. I wore a B.O.Y Fitted with this all black Motif crop top from Cres. E Dim with a vintage mesh top and  sliver HADRIA by Adrianna Beer Cuffs, also these white sweater material Frank Tropiano shorts and some Jordan's. My day was very chill.

"INVERTED COMMAS" Tote Bags

Living as a New Yorker I find myself having to fill my pockets or even find a bag to put all my belongings in. I am person that just grabs and goes but living in New York, well in Harlem it's like a 20-30min train ride to the city so I can't really run back and fourth so I tend to have to carry a bag with me everywhere I go AND I just hate carrying the same bag. I came across these amazingly affordable illustrated tote bags on a website called Inverted Commas I thought the bags very chic, fashionable, and artsy definitely for a man or woman on the go who wants to add a quick piece of flair to an already great outfit! I got quick Q&A about the brand check out what they had to say below.

PINK GECKOS

I've been shadowing a stylist here in New York for the pass week and today I went out on my own and did a few pulls for shoe's to different showrooms. Today I tired to be comfortable as possible and it also was a little rainy so I wore a bright hot pink beanie which was different for me. I know you guys are like "Askia really" lol, but I don't really wear pink to be honest also I wore this kind of black and light colored lavender, pink and sherbet green Gecko button up shirt I got from Rag-o-rama and some all black rude skinny jeans from Hottopic and classic hightop chucks.
